9. Why does Christchurch use the ESV translation of the Bible?
There are many translations that we appreciate and enjoy. The ESV (English Standard Version or as Pete Greasley says: “Essentially Sound Version”!) is our choice because we find it the best translation to use in a public setting for expository preaching. Simply, the ESV tends to translate the Hebrew and Greek in a more literal way than many of the more ‘dynamic equivalent’ versions of today. But you can come to our meetings with any bible you want…or no bible at all!
