The Christian Life was never meant to be just ‘Jesus and me’, but ‘Jesus and we’ and so at Christchurch we seek to genuinely practice ‘doing life together’. We are called to encourage one another to love and good deeds (Heb 10.25), to carry one another’s burdens (Gal 6.2), and to exercise our spiritual gifts for the building up of the body of Christ, the church. This is our privilege, and yet to do all this in a large Sunday gathering is simply not possible, and so one of the joys of membership at Christchurch is participation in a ‘Home Group’.
These groups are made up of 12-20 individuals and meet two or three times a month, with the primary purpose being the practice and pursuit of genuine Biblical friendship & fellowship. This involves a lot of fun and laughter and much talking & snacking, as well as prayer, Bible study, discussion, counsel and encouragement. These groups also provide opportunity to care for one another’s practical needs such as meals for a family with a newborn, or networking to help an individual locate a job or new accommodation.
These groups are strategically located geographically all over Newport, Rogerstone, Risca, Caerleon, Marshfield and Cardiff, and newcomers to Christchurch can learn more about involvement in them on our Starting Point course.
