Are you over eighteen, eager to grow and learn more about God?
Are you passionate about seeing the good news of the Gospel proclaimed in our communities?
If you are... then this GAP Team year could well be for you!
GROW AND PROCLAIM...
The GAP Team year is a full-time placement year given over to taking the glorious message of Jesus Christ out into the communities around us, as well as to growing more in understanding, learning and love for God. Throughout the year the team is fully immersed in Christchurch, in both training and evangelism. They also have the opportunity to go on an overseas mission trip to see how the gospel is going forward in other nations.
The GAP Team is therefore perfect for anyone over eighteen who is eager to devote a year of their lives to growing in understanding and character, and who is passionate about serving God through the proclamation of the glorious gospel.
WHEN IS IT?
11 months full time, from September 2008 – July 2009
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
The GAP Team fee is £1000. Christchurch is subsidising the year for the folk on the team, providing the rest of the money needed for housing costs, travelling expenses and the overseas missions trip. The only additional cost for you will be food and general spending money.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
Training & Studying
Spread across the year, one day a week will be given over to study and training, looking at everything from systematic theology and Biblical theology, to hands-on practical topics like decision making and apologetics. The leadership team of Christchurch will all play their part in this in different ways.
Student Work
Our student ministry is dedicated to building a healthy community of students in the Church, as well as passionately reaching out in our university campuses, in Newport and particularly in ‘Outpost Cardiff’. As part of this team your role would be to support, administrate and initiate action in student work and participate in all areas that are suited to your gifting.
Children’s & Youth Work
Shockwave (7-11’s), Fuse (11-16’s), Vintage Jesus (11-16’s), CX (16-18’s); you will be working towards making all these things high quality and energetic. This will include coming on board to organise games, to get to know these young folk, and to take care of the general day to day running of these events. You will also be involved in secular school assemblies and classes.
Getting Involved
At Christchurch there is loads going on, from Football to Crafty, Family Matters to Children’s Ministry, Christianity Explored to Pub Talk. During the year we’d also want to expose you to some of these areas in accordance with your character and gifting. You certainly won’t be twiddling your thumbs!
WHERE WILL I BE BASED?
In single-gender GAP Team houses in Newport, close to the Christchurch Centre.
