Cross Examined

The central message of the Christian faith is the Gospel; the historical objective truth that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners by dying on a cross and rising again on the third day. His substitutionary death has earned us life, forgiveness and righteousness that we don’t deserve and cannot earn. It is this glorious truth that we want to examine from many angles, as a gemologist would when beholding the most beautiful diamond on the planet. As we study together, and delve into deep theological truth, we want our examination to be worship inspiring and life transforming.

Over the next few months we hope to unravel the mystery of why the Cross is at the centre of Christianity as we study John Stott’s classic “The Cross of Christ”. Once a month we’ll get together to chat through the implications and applications of this magnificent book.

I’m so excited about this new venture. Quite simply, very few books have had the impact this book has had on me, as well as on so many others since its publication back in 1986

We hope to study a number of Christian classics this year and be able to look back and assess the impact they have had in us growing and maturing as men who love Jesus.

These Saturday mornings promise to be a sweet time of gathering at the foot of our Saviour’s cross and learning to say together with Christians throughout history “far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

It’s not too late to sign up. You can find the dates below. If you’d like to join us and haven’t done so yet, or would like more information on this book study series, drop me at line at bm@christchurchnet.org.

"The Cross of Christ" by John Stott is available on iTunes as an audiobook.

Our meeting dates for 2010:

May 15th, June 19th
