Christchurch is a non-denominational church that is amazed by grace, and passionate about the glorious gospel. Since 1999 we have been part of the family of churches known as ‘Sovereign Grace Ministries', led by our good friend, C.J. Mahaney. For nearly twelve years now, we have been based at the Christchurch Centre in Newport. During that time, the facility has been completely refurbished and now provides a wonderful base for the 450+ folks that have found their home here.
Ultimately though, Christchurch is way more than a building, an organisation, or a man. It is a family of believers, a family of diverse individuals who are united by a common relationship with Jesus Christ, and as such we share many things in common, even within our diversity:
1. We’re amazed by God’s love.
One thing you’ll hear us talk a lot about at Christchurch is the Gospel. We just can’t help it! We are amazed at the love God has demonstrated for us through the death of Jesus Christ in our place. We were guilty of sin and worthy of punishment from God, but instead He showed us mercy. A mercy and grace that He continues to show us each and every day. It simply doesn’t get any better than that!
2. We’re building our lives on the Bible.
We find our direction as a Church and as individuals in God’s Word. We believe the Holy Scriptures are inspired by God and that they are infallible. This is why solid, biblical preaching and teaching is such a priority for us.
3. We’re seeking more of the Holy Spirit’s presence.
God has given the Holy Spirit to strengthen, guide, convict and comfort us. Whether it’s at work or when we’re gathered as a church to worship God together, we want to experience his empowering presence, understanding our need for Him.
4. We’re committed to vibrant relationships.
We are more than just a congregation, we are a family that has been saved by grace and so we love to ‘do life’ together.
5. We're passionate about sharing the gospel with others.
The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, and with that in mind we are passionate about taking this glorious message to our families and communities.
Christchurch really is a family made up of all types of folk, but despite our differences, we are altogether united around the glorious gospel, and amazed by His grace.
